If the berries are not easily coming off, you can use a pair of scissors or pruning shears to snip them off the stem. Be sure to wear gloves when handling gooseberry plants, as they can have thorns. It's best to remove the berries when they are fully ripe for the best flavor. **

"Mhd" stands for "minimum durability date" for gooseberries in a jar. This date indicates the period during which the gooseberries are expected to retain their quality and freshness when stored properly. It is important to consume the gooseberries before the "mhd" to ensure that they are at their best quality. After the "mhd," the quality of the gooseberries may start to deteriorate. **

Currants, gooseberries, and blackberries are typically planted in a sunny location with well-draining soil. They prefer a spot that receives at least 6-8 hours of sunlight per day. These plants can tolerate partial shade but will produce better fruit in full sun. It is important to ensure the soil is rich in organic matter and has good drainage to prevent waterlogging, which can lead to root rot. **

When gooseberries are affected by a gray milky layer, similar to mold, it is likely that they are suffering from a fungal disease called powdery mildew. This disease is caused by the fungus Sphaerotheca mors-uvae and can affect the leaves, stems, and fruit of the gooseberry plant. It can lead to reduced fruit quality and yield if not properly managed. To prevent and control powdery mildew, it is important to practice good garden hygiene, such as removing and disposing of infected plant material, and using fungicidal sprays if necessary. **
